I am a 20-year-old female triathlete from Lieto in
southern Finland. I did long distance running for about 12 years and I was one
of the best in my age group in Finland. I also did two Finnish records when I
was younger and I have several team medals and a personal medal in the Finnish
championships.
Four years
ago I started with triathlon because leg injuries prevent me from training
running as much as I wanted. I had always been OK at swimming and because of
the injuries I had done a lot of cycling.
With cycling
I started in spring 2009 and the following summer I won personal silver and
team gold in my age group in the Finnish championships in time trial. Ever
since I have been one of the best time trial cyclists in my age group here in
Finland.
Since 2010 I
have been one of the triathletes in Finnish national team and since 2012 I have
been part of the global Orbea-Orca triathlon
team.
Along with
training I study chemistry in the University of Turku at this moment but my aim
is to get in the medical school and become a doctor.
At this moment
I am not able to swim as fast as the best triathletes, so I always have to try
to catch them up by myself with bike. In the future, when I have developed my
swimming to the same level with the best triathletes, my goal is to beat the
best female triathletes in Finland and then become able to fight even with the
international top triathletes.
I am a
beginner in triathlon but I absolutely have a lot of motivation and will to
become better and better and one of the best!
